Out-patient psychiatric services
We provide regular psychiatric out patient service for both new and follow up patients. Patients can be referred by various sources. Self referrals are also accepted. Currently we do not have any restriction of catchment areas. We provide service to patients from all over Andhra Pradesh state and even from other states inIndiaand from abroad.
In-patient psychiatric services (acute care, rehabilitation and respite care)
MGICMH has inpatient facilities for 13 patients. We have general ward, individual rooms for patients seeking privacy both air-conditioned and ordinary. Admission facilities are available for assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of mental disorders. Under the clinical leadership of psychiatrists, we provide a multidisciplinary support with professional mental health nursing, psychological interventions, occupational therapy and social interventions. We carry out day activities and run day groups to improve self confidence, social skills and personal care skills.
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)
Electroconvulsive therapy is available for the treatment of severe psychotic depression, severe mania and catatonic schizophrenia. ECT is the last choice for patients not responding to medication and other treatments where there is a high risk of suicides and severe self neglect.
Various types of psychotherapies are available at MGICMH for suitable patients for the treatment of depression, anxiety and Obsessional compulsive disorder. Psychological counselling for depression and anxiety, behavioural therapy for behavioural problems and obsessive compulsive disorder, cognitive behavioural therapy for depression, anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder are available. Family therapy, group therapy are also available.
Occupational therapy, Deaddiction, Psychosocial rehabilitation, Psychological therapies
We specialise in dealing with alcohol and other substance misuse disorders, Depression, Anxiety disorders, Chronic schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective disorder and behavioural disorders in children.
